Hazardous Area (ATEX) Transformer Rectifiers
These ATEX Certified transformer rectifiers are supplied specifically for the cathodic protection of steel structures, including jetties, pipelines, tank farms, offshore structures and vessels and are designed to comply with the most stringent industry specifications and environmental conditions where operational safety and reliability are paramount. Being in the ONAN (Oil Natural Air Natural) cooling category they are inherently more reliable than oil circulated and forced air designs.
All units are manufactured to rigorous safety regulations and quality assurance procedures under our ISO 9001 certification, fully in accordance with all applicable International standards.
Our range of ATEX Certified oil cooled hazardous area transformer rectifiers are designed, manufactured and fully certified under our ATEX license for use in Zone 2 hazardous areas with gas group IIB and IIC. For absolute safety Hockway™ build integrated certified units, rather than build boxes and enclosures with individual certification.
Applications
Our ATEX Certified oil cooled hazardous area transformer rectifiers are designed for use in Zone 2 hazardous areas temperature class T3, where the highest standards of equipment safety are required. Typical applications include oil refineries, LNG plants, chemical plants and offshore installations. Units can operate in ambient temperatures up to 55°C with current ratings up to 600A. Multiple output channels can be built into a single rectifier enclosure, if required.
Features
Enclosures – Sealed to a protective category of IP66, ATEX fully certified for hazardous area Zone 2, Gas Group IIB or IIC.

Oil Cooled Transformer Rectifiers
Our range of oil cooled transformer rectifiers are specifically for the cathodic protection of steel structures including jetties, pipelines and tank farms. They have been designed to comply with the most stringent industry specifications and perform in arduous environmental conditions where continual operator safety and reliability are paramount.
The transformer rectifiers are in the ONAN (Oil Natural Air Natural) cooling category and so have an inherently greater reliability than oil circulated and forced air designs.
Cable terminations are located within an enclosure on the side of the tank to allow vertical cable entry. Exposed terminals operating above 50 volts are covered for personnel protection.
All units are manufactured to rigorous safety regulations and thorough quality assurance procedures under our ISO 9001 certification are in full compliance with all applicable British and European standards.
Applications
Our oil cooled transformer rectifiers are ideally suited to heavy duty applications in demanding environments with ambient temperatures up to 55°C, and are available with current ratings of up to 900A. Our in-house design and manufacturing process allows us to build multiple output channels within a single transformer rectifier unit.
Units are designed and manufactured with a wide variety of innovative features and every aspect of their design can be customised to suit a particular application or client specification.
To accommodate every possible application, we are able to incorporate a wide range of specialised features into our customised transformer rectifiers, including local and remote monitoring of output voltage, current, permanent reference electrode potential monitoring, and remote control of output voltage and current.

Junction Boxes
We manufacture and supply a full range of junction and test boxes to suit any cathodic protection system for both hazardous and non-hazardous locations.
Our equipment is specifically designed to suit the harshest environments ranging from the hottest of desert locations (up to 60°C ambient) to the extremely low temperatures of the Arctic or Northern Russia (-40°C).
A complete range of ATEX/IECEx Certified and non hazardous enclosures are available. Enclosures fabricated from all material types are available (subject to ATEX certification)

Air Cooled Transformer Rectifiers
Our range of air cooled transformer rectifiers for the cathodic protection of steel structures, including jetties, pipelines and tank farms are designed to comply with the most stringent industry specifications and environmental conditions where operational safety and reliability are paramount. All units are manufactured to rigorous safety regulations and quality assurance procedures under our ISO 9001 certification, fully in accordance with all applicable International standards.
Applications
Our air cooled transformer rectifiers are designed for applications where lower current outputs are required and can be manufactured up to 50 amperes and are suitable for environments in ambient temperatures up to 55°C whether indoors or outdoors. The units are generally smaller and of lighter weight than oil cooled units and are particularly suited to non-hazardous area applications where the size and weight of an oil cooled transformer rectifier would make installation prohibitive.
They are designed and manufactured with a variety of innovative features and every aspect of their design can be customised to suit an application or client specification.
In order to accommodate every possible application, we are able to incorporate specialised features into our transformer rectifiers, including local and remote monitoring of output voltage, current, reference electrode potentials and remote control of output voltage and current.

Remote Monitoring and Control System
Hockway’s remote monitoring and control system (RMCS)
A programmable logic controller (PLC) based system operating on a communication protocol in which one device or process controls one or more other devices or processes. The system uses the latest in PLC based technology to provide fast and accurate communication between transformer rectifiers (TR) and a control room.
The RMCS is designed for use with a cathodic protection system to provide remote control and monitoring of all transformer rectifiers and monitoring facilities associated with a project.
A remote master control unit (RMCU) may be housed in a control room and contains the main processor, complete with a touch screen keypad that enables the operator to quickly and efficiently monitor and control readings from a linked transformer rectifier (TR) and associated reference points.
